Our Mission
“Faith and music collide with
passion for ministry.”
Bio
“The authority to put back
together the chaos of this world,” is something that everyone is
looking for in this life, and it is the picture painted by the Hebrew
word, “salem”. This word is also translated
“peace,” and the band SalemsVoice is just that, a voice of
peace. SalemsVoice is an alternative rock band that has drawn
comparisons to groups such as Creed, Switchfoot, and Jeremy Camp,
though each who comments says that the music they are hearing has its
own distinct sound. Larry Sloane, who has worked with artists
such as The Eagles, Sheryl Crow, and Shania Twain said of
SalemsVoice’s first demo, “These are good songs; you have
the talent to take this music far.”
SalemsVoice has become a very busy band quite quickly. Each show
played has meant new contacts, immediate new places to play music, and
requests to return. After winning “Tha Battle of Tha Bands
2005” at Tha Roots in Kokomo, Indiana, the band has been playing
almost every weekend at venues from Indiana to Ohio to Minnesota to
Nashville, Tennessee. Payment for shows has afforded the band the
ability to record its only studio project to date at one of the
nation’s top recording studios, Pro-Digital Sound Studios in
Anderson, Indiana. Currently, the band is working on it’s
second project and the radio single “Reach” is being played
on radio stations across Indiana.
The ministry of SalemsVoice has been diverse and has led to
opportunities for lead singer, Dave Horine to challenge the groups they
have ministered to from the Word of God as well as through the
music. Leading worship for church and student events has also
been a joy for the band. Pastor Ian Nacy of McGrawsville UMC
said, “They brought a new depth to the worship
service…” Though the road has led many different
places, SalemsVoice has at its core a deep desire to show the world
what Christ has done in their lives.
So, what happens when five guys with a passion for Christ realize that
they each have the same passion for music? Faith collides with
music for ministry, and that is exactly what has happened with this
band. Each of the members has been involved in music ministry for
years, but in different settings with many different goals. When
guitarists Matt Barnett and Jake Winkler began writing riffs over four
years ago they were not sure where the Lord was leading them, but they
just wanted to play guitar for His glory. Lance Luginbill and
Justin Butler were added to the group in 2003 and they continued to
write music, although they were still without a singer. They
truly wanted God's man to front the band, and in early spring of 2004
Dave Horine, Justin and Lance's associate pastor, came on as lead
vocalist and songwriter, allowing the band to begin fulfilling the
purposes for which they set out:
With the recent completion of an EP and the anticipation of the release
of a full-length album, SalemsVoice will continue to
minister the Word as God has led them until He shows them another
way. The ministry continues to grow with each day through
marketing and by word of mouth. To learn more, check out

Testimony
SalemsVoice is a combination of five men who have come from very
similar walks of life. Each has grown up in a Christian home, but has
had, along the way, a realization that his faith must be his own. The
Scriptures tell us that “by grace you have been saved through
faith, and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not of works so
that no one may boast.” The band firmly believes that this is the
only way that one may enter into a relationship with a holy God. Each
member, individually, has placed his entire faith and life into the
hands of Jesus Christ. “For whoever will call upon the name of
the Lord will be saved.”
The saving faith that each member of
SalemsVoice has is leading them to serve their God with all of their
heart, soul, mind and strength. The Scriptures also tell us “show
me faith without works, and I’ll show you my faith by my
works…faith without works is dead.” Ministry is a part of
our lives if we are true believers in the God of the universe. God has
called the band to minister through music, and we wouldn’t think
of doing anything else.
